Ruhong Zhou Lab --- Hiring for Post-Doctoral Fellow
Dr. Zhou, AAAS Fellow & APS Fellow, is currently a Qiushi Chair Professor, Dean, Shanghai Institute for Advanced Study, and Director, Institute of Quantitative Biology, Zhejiang University. Prior to join SIAS at ZJU, he was Head of Soft Matter Science Dept, IBM Thomas J Watson Research Center, and Adjunct Professor, Department of Chemistry, Columbia University. His main research interests focus on quantitative biology, biophysics, bio-nano interface, and AI+ applications in biology. Dr. Zhou has authored and co-authored more than 300 journal publications (including 32 in Science, Nature, Cell, Nature subjournals, and PNAS) with 20000+ citations (H-index 73), and 32 patents, delivered 300+ invited talks at major conferences and universities worldwide. He was part of the IBM BlueGene team that won the 2009 National Medal on Technology (presented by President Obama).
Dr Zhou received his PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from Columbia University, MS in Theoretical Physics and BS in Physics both from Zhejiang University.
The main research directions of his lab are: Development of novel algorithms for computational biology and bioinformatics, molecular dynamics and machine leaning, protein folding dynamics, protein-protein interaction, and ligand-receptor binding mechanism.
key responsibilities:
-Assist Principal Investigator to determine research scope and methodologies
-Carry out independent research, able to design and develop the research agenda to achieve goals
-Contribute to write peer-reviewed publications and funding applications
-Mentor graduate students and undergraduate students as needed
Qualifications:
-Recent PhD (within the past 3 years) or PhD candidate in Biophysics/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Computaitonal Science from a renowned academic institution, domestic of overseas
-Experience in using molecular modelling, machine learning, bioinformatics and programming would be an advantage
-Must be able to work independently on multiple projects
-Excellent communication skills; Working proficiency in English, strong English writing skills are preferred
-Able to work in a collaborative environment
